Elgg The Open Source Social Networking System Launch New News Blog
With v1.0 of the popular social networking cms system Elgg having just entered beta testing the team have decided to launch a new blog to keep users up to date with progress. Elgg v1.0 which will be released this summer is looking pretty nice from what we have seen.
Here is what Dave Tosh From Elgg had to say about the upcoming v1.0 release of Elgg.
A version of the new codebase has been used in production since Oct 2007. The first site to be powered by Elgg v1.0 was UnLtdWorld, the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs. This was followed by Rucku, now the biggest social network dedicated to rugby (btw – there is another sports network launching next week, which we are looking forward to). In February 2008, we opened up a beta site called ElggVoices, this also runs on a version of Elgg v1.0.
We have been doing various benchmarking tests, which we will make available soon, once written up.
In short, a lot of work has gone into this software and we feel it has been worth it. Although we are just getting around to opening up the core code, the actual platform has already had some serious usage.

I would love to see a demo, is there one available?
