Bit.ly Surpasses Tinyurl.com As The Default URL Shortener For Twitter.com
When using Twitter it’s almost inevitable that you will need to use a URL shortening service at some point when posting web links, The most used and recognized link shortener until recently has been Tinyurl.com. Bit.ly however has now overtaken Tinyurl.com as the tweeters top choice of all the URL shortening services being used on Twitter.
According to statistics from Tweetmeme.com Bit.ly has now surpassed Tinyurl.com as the top choice to shorten web links on Twitter.
Most of the URLs that flow through Twitter are shortened using one of many URL shortening services. Tweetmeme processes these, expanding them to their original long-URL. The following is a breakdown of the top 5 URL shortener’s that were used in the last 24 hours.
As you can see from the statistics above Bit.ly now leads Tinyurl.com by 12.03% of all the URLS shortened on Twitter.
