Pligged V9.9.1 CMS System Released
The last official release of the Pligg CMS system was way back on January 1st 2008, since then however development has slowed to a near stop with even the SVN disappearing out of the community’s reach. Very little news has broken from pligg as to the scheduled release of v1.0 of pligg, for myself and many others 5 months without a full release or even a bugfix is way too long for any CMS system.
Today at social CMS buzz we release Pligged v9.9.1 with all the current bugfixes taken care of and a plethora of new features all integrated into one simple installer, new users to pligg no longer need to search forums for hours looking for bugfixes or current modules as they are all included. We have also included our PliggedBlue template integrated fully within the release.
Fixes From v9.9.0
- Story Page Fixed To Show Full Text Article, was displaying only a summary.
- Bug in dbtree.php that was giving errors on sub category’s now fixed.
- Scriptaculous module pligg_effects.js and pligg_effects-min.js now gzipped for faster loading.
- Various other fixes and tweaks.Additions to v9.9.1
Added v9.9.1 Features
- SEO Google Friendly URL system with hypen as seperator.
- Category SEO FRiendly URL system with hypen as seperator.
- Image Upload Module v1.03 integrated into the templates.
- XML Google sitemaps v0.9 added to modules.
- RSS Importer v0.6 Included with Modules.
- Askimet Antispam module v0.4a added, it doesn’y work correctly but hey it’s been added anyway.
- Added long overdue Function to delete discarded stories and optimize the pligg database, this can be achieved from the Admin / News Management section.
- Added Complete spamkill system to delete users, stories, votes, tags etc from the database, pligg never deleted anything before.
- SpamSlaughter added to users profiles for administrator and god, this is a more streamlined way to reach the spam kill link.
- Related Links implemented on summary view with AJAX, you will see a new link next to Tell A Friend, Save, Add To etc title Related Links.
- Added Blacklist IP Spam Protection Module.

Sorry if this sounds stupid but:
1. This version can be used to upgrade from .9.9.0?
2. Do the existing templates work? I’m using your DarkWater
Comment by LincolnHawks on 13 June 2008:
Hi Razvan,
Yes you should be able to upgrade from v9.9.0 fine, darkwater will however needs some minor modifications to accommodate the new features like delete stories, related links, SpamSlaughter and image upload.
I will be releasing our updated templates over the weekend and darkwater will be one of them

I’m surprised it took so long !
Comment by thomas on 13 June 2008:
guys, i am a little bit confused
but first : this is awesome …. thx a lot !!!!
so what u think is the future of pligg in your eyes ? can i get support here if i have any problems with this version ?
Comment by LincolnHawks on 13 June 2008:
Hi Thomas,
You can always find support here for this release or any release of pligg for that matter.
As for the future of pligg only the future will tell hopefully with 5 months of development under it’s belt v1.0 will be something special, although according to threads at the pligg forum this won’t be the case and it will mostly be bug fixes and a few new features.
you can read this article to find out what the developers said when asked by Dave Mackey over at the pligg forums HERE
The questions were asked about a month and a half ago at the pligg forum.
Where is pligg going in the future? i cannot say but it certainly isn’t going very fast with 5 month periods of nothing between releases, the main problem i see at pligg personally is terrible communication of progress of development to the community. I am not saying update users of every change every hour, but a once a week post with some tangible information on the progresses of the project would be appreciated by all pliggers i imagine.

Lincoln you can make your link an actual word using wordpress. Highlight the word and select the button that look like a link (chain link) and add the url in the box that appears. You can select iif the link opens in a new, or same window …
It would look a lot better! I use to do my links like that as well!
So has anyone installed, updated, or launch this version as of yet?
Comment by LincolnHawks on 13 June 2008:
sry bbrian haha was just lazy

Good one infact i was pissed off with pligg and started a site with drigg which seems good 2 me..with loads of module and i guess its 100% better than pligg . here you go http://www.strod.com
Comment by FuckingRetard on 14 June 2008:
So wait.. You are imitating a clone? How fucking sorry do you have to be? This is nothing but the last SVN version. Total waist of time. The pligg developers went deep because of assholes like you. This is not an upgrade nor a better version. Good luck getting any support from Pligg.com That’s all that really matters.. All you fucks are nothing but Digg fan boys.
Comment by The Watcher on 14 June 2008:
This is actually funny.. Pligg is a certified LLC and this joker is attempting to release software under their name. I can’t wait till they sue your ass. I can only think that they haven’t responding to your blog in so long is because their lawyers are logging it all for a huge lawsuit.
Comment by web design company on 14 June 2008:
This was not released by Pligg.but by some psycho banned fanboy.. Good luck using this version.. I can guarantee the only place you will get support is by this nut job.
Jesus Christ, just look at everything the toothless bastard has submitted. It’s all the same spam crap.. He has issues with open source..
Hey Pligger.. Do us all a favor and get off your mom for a few minutes, go to a dentists, and then seek therapy. We don’t want your fan boy crap..
This is like some douche bag thinking he has the ability to release the next FIREFOX…
Bury this as the blog spam it is.
Comment by David Dunn on 14 June 2008:
Congratulations. This page has just been mirrored by multiple sites throughout the world and has been forwarded to Pligg’s legal team. Enjoy jail.
Comment by sad sack on 14 June 2008:
The Pligg developers have already posted a notice in their forum that this version is total crap and not an official release. I have to agree with the other commentators above. Enjoy your time in prison. Don’t drop the soap man!
Comment by Unknown on 14 June 2008:
Great work Lincoln! Keep up the good work. I’ll be using this release in my next project.
Ignore the five douchebags above me, they have no idea what Open Source means, and I wonder what’s in it for them for insulting and trying to scare you…
As for Mr.Web Design SPAM Company. Anyone can play around with the Firefox source code and try and fix some bugs just like Lincoln did to Pligg. How old are you people? 10?
None the less, I hope a group of developers fork a new project from the Pligg project, just like it forked from meneame, and this time don’t forget to organise it.
Comment by Tremor on 15 June 2008:
Great release thanks for this version, at last somebody has done what pligg has failed to do since January, release a version of pligg that actually works. I’m running this version on my site just now an it works well.
On a side note all the talk above about Legal issues and Jail is rather strange as pligg is open source and can be modified and released by anyone? You might want to take time and actually read the Affero General Public License documentation that pligg is released under, anyone can release a modified version of the system.
Comment by DavidDunn on 15 June 2008:
What’s really strange to me is the fact that someone else has posted a comment under my name above, Just for the record i did NOT post that comment above?
Comment by LincolnHawks on 15 June 2008:
@David the four negative comments FuckingRetard, The Watcher, David Dunn and sad sack are actually from the same over protective user with the same IP
haha
Why he decided to imitate you i have no idea other than you may have posted a comment here before and he thought that by imitating your name it may add some credibility to his cause.
Comment by David Mackey on 17 July 2008:
Nice job. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can pull from your release into our codebase at Informed Networker.
