Badware is software that fundamentally disregards a user's choice over how his or her computer will be used. Some applications are badware because they act deceptively or irreversibly (for example, an application that secretly installs spyware or that is difficult or impossible to uninstall). Other applications are badware because they have objectionable behaviors (such as displaying pop-up ads or changing a user's homepage) without fully and prominently disclosing those behaviors to the user in advance and seeking his or her consent.
