Most may be wondering what i have been doing for the last few weeks as things have been pretty quiet in the pligg world lately. You will be pleased to here that i haven't been resting on my laurels whilst the official pligg has ceased development i have been constructing a version titled Pligg Pro which improves on the work of v9.9.0.

This will most likely be the last version of pligg we will release here at Social CMS Buzz yes it's a sad fact especially after the success of our SEO EDITION but at the moment nobody knows where the development of pligg is heading or if a new version will ever be released that is actually usable in a live environment.

The Pligg Pro version we are working on has some added features including our own SEO hacks and modifications except the category removal hack, what i think most users will be interested in though is the fact we have added two new separate sections for Videos and Images, yes just like Digg

At submission you can choose from News | Video | Image sections to submit content to, to begin with all this will be integrated into the yget template but can easily be added to any template with some code adjustments and file uploads that we have kept as simple as possible.

I am currently still testing and coding this version but it should be released in it's first version in the coming weeks.

After we release this version of pligg as a thank you to the pliggers who have been left unsatisfied by the official release we will be moving all our time and talents to the DRIGG system Tony Mobily has released for drupal.

We have been asked before why we do not make a branch of pligg and release it or continue development, the simple fact is it would be better to code a new system from the ground up rather than use any of pliggs messy existing code. Any project needs a clear development plan/roadmap something which pligg has never had hence the unfortunate outcome of this CMS which has left it lacking major features and being underdeveloped for it's age, lets not forget pligg is two years old now still buggy, still in beta, still not advisable to be used in a live environment.

Yes it should be released pretty soon for testing, i have all the separate sections ala digg, ALL | NEWS | IMAGES | VIDEOS integrated and am bug testing and constructing a new template for the system before release.

The reason i said it would most probably be the last version of pligg i modify is because i want to spend more time working with the DRIGG system for drupal in the future. We will however always provide support for the modified version of pligg we release

This is a great idea, I don't understand why they're not doing this over at Pligg and make a 9.9.xx etc. Most (big on most not all) of the bug fixes are spread throughout the Pligg forum it just takes so much time to search, apply the patches and then realize it's not for the current version or something. This will be a great favor for everyone here, thanks!

Hopefully i should have the first version out soon for testing, i have also setup a sourceforge account so an SVN along with the codebase can be accessed and easily updated or added to. At the moment the template is around 80% completed and the actual system edits are about the same percentage, i will be working on the system as much as possible over the next few days.

The system could have been released with yget as the template but i decided to convert a new template for the system with some cool added features, this is whats taking the time
